Understand that by means of kicking the pattern, you will also lose all these things. If you do and there's no option to replace it, your whole body will yearn to own it back on an unconscious level. If no alternative solution is found, the old pattern will re-establish by itself. To discover the function of a particular habit, it is sometimes necessary to look deeper into yourself as well as your actions. To do this, try to identify a regular pattern which leads someone to doing the practice. Look for indicators to help you find the authentic purpose which built you develop that habit in the first place. Find out details including when do you normally practice it; what time in the day; what usually happens prior to indulge in the actual habit; what were you doing at that time; where is it (the location), who were being you with and so on. All these questions might help give clues to distinguish the purpose and function of a particular habit. Once you've identified the need that may be being met from the habit, you must discover a replacement for the item. This is so that you can continue to meet that require even once you've kicked the behavior. For example, when you smoke or drink to cure stress, look for other outlets to accomplish this such as performing exercises, meditating or taking up a hobby.
